Oh My Beautiful Shoes!

Oh My Beautiful Shoes!

…And even my not so beautiful shoes. It’s no surprise that some dogs like to chew, and leaving things around can sometimes wreak havoc on our wardrobes. When some pups get bored or anxious, they’ll look for an outlet. Often times it’s the leg of a chair, shoes, blankets, towels, or anything we might leave lying around — some of these things can be really bad and dangerous to dogs!

But let’s go back to the shoes. There is something about leather that attracts dogs, it must feel really good to grind little puppy teeth on leather. So how do we fix this problem? Well, we should always have something in place to give a dog that is acceptable to chew. Make sure your dog knows the word NO! Take away the item that they shouldn’t have and replace it with an item that they should have.

Toys are excellent boredom busters, some made out of rope and leather may temper their craving to chew on shoes, belts, or furniture. There are also sprays and deterrents on the market that can be used on furniture to help keep pups away. Remember your pups are talking to you and letting you know that they need something or that something is lacking. It might be a little bit of a guessing game to help figure out what they need, but take some time to think it through. We are always here to help!
